Aunt Verena Stutz Crawford

Aunt Verena, Grandpa's last remaining sibling, is failing. We expect her to pass away very soon.

She is 7 years older than Grandpa, and was born before the family moved to Canada. She and her husband, Vivian Crawford, owned a ranch about 5 miles east of Cardston where they raised four of our cousins, Colleen, Dallas, Darrel, and Rebecca. For many years the Stutz family reunions alternated between Grandpa's farm and the Crawford ranch.

Aunt Verena had a stroke about 17 years ago and has ever since been confined to life in an auxiliary hospital. She lost her hearing and sight. She speaks with difficulty, and understanding her words is difficult. She has not been able to walk and has limited use of her arms and hands. Her husband died 8 years ago. To make things worse, her mind has remained sharp. She has been kept alive by her keen sense of humor and by her daughter, Rebecca.

Our love and prayers go up for her and her family, and for her brother who is so far away.
